In the last 15 years, I have worked part-time caring for parents and relatives with all financial and health matters. Full-time, I have worked for decades as a corporate CFO in various industries. Last year, I made a decision to follow my faith and move to senior care. I am fully aware of the challenges and stress faced by families having to “juggle” all of these issues with family caregiving. I am now working to help other seniors in my community with navigating in this difficult environment with getting help and care for older adults. I saw a great need while caring for my parents, in laws, and relatives and am now set up to help others as I have done for my own.
As a Hospitality Minister at St. Vincent de Paul, I want to be of service to our community and its neighbors. Whether assistance is needed with daily money management, budgeting, cash flow, negotiation, or finding alternative to housing arrangements. I am experienced with all of these tasks and now more available to help others.
As baby boomers hit retirement age, the need is endless, and I am asking all readers of this column to reach out if you need assistance. In addition, there is a “silent” group who needs help but is embarrassed to ask. Reach out to your neighbors, check on them often. As a seasoned power of attorney for so many, I know my past service can be helpful to many. Even if we as a parish community can’t help everyone, we can try to help many in need of assistance.
